Fantastic Kid's Parties on a Budget

In this time of national recession, we are all feeling the pinch, but there is no reason for our children to suffer, especially on their birthday. This may be your only present to them, but at least they will still have a great party that they will not soon forget. Here are some tips on how to make a great party possible while remaining budget conscious.

The first thing to remember is that you should try to keep the party as small as possible. In other words, try not to invite the entire classroom. The more kids there are, the more money you will end up spending.

The cake can be one of the most expensive parts of a birthday party. Try baking the cake at home and allow your child to help you decorate it. This will make it more special for the child than any store bought cake. If your child is into a particular thing, such as a cartoon character, monster trucks or princesses, visit your local dollar store and find a small toy or picture that you can adorn the cake with.

The dollar store will actually become your favorite store when it comes to birthday parties. Finding a dollar or bargain store is the best way to a great party for minimal cost. Everything you need for a memorable party can be found in these stores, even goodie bags and everything to fill them.

Print out a Happy Birthday banner from your computer, use newspaper comics for party hats and ask friends and family if they have any party "left-overs" you can use. Remember to save everything you can, even gift bags your child may receive their gifts in, for reuse at a later date. Use your imagination when it comes to decorations as well.
