Some Great Birthday Party Ideas for Children of All Ages!

Birthday party themes for children are really fun to create and especially enjoyable for the children. Some overdone themes of the past include western, princess, dinosaur, pirate and luau themes. If your children are young, some themes they will enjoy are clowns and balloons (an adult dresses like a clown and makes animals, hats and other creations with balloons), an outdoor star-gazing party, a superhero costume party (children dress as a superhero), a Disney party (children dress as their favorite Disney character) or a dance and musical games party with children's music from Radio Disney.

Older children (8-13) enjoy themes that involve drama, mystery and survivor skills. The Survivor Party theme is for 6-8 year olds and requires children to use their brains and imaginations. The Medieval Madness Party theme (for 11-13 year olds) is basically a murder mystery party, where the children role-play a “who done it,” until the mystery is solved. Slumber parties work well for all age groups, including teens, as long as they’re well-chaperoned, and Movie Night is a great party theme for the teen crowd, as well. Just make sure the flicks are age-appropriate before you rent them. You and your teen should pick out the movies in advance to avoid confusion on the night of the party. Also, when parents call to RSVP, you can give them the movie titles and assure them that nothing inappropriate will be shown. For this party, popcorn is an absolute must, along with soft drinks, lemonade or iced tea. Also, you can add to the atmosphere with decorations that enhance the movie’s theme.
