Television Vs Reading

Reading to your kids at a very young age is very helpful because it helps them gain knowledge that will be very helpful to them when they start going to school. That way when they go to school it will be easier for them to adapt to school atmosphere. It will also help expand their vocabulary and will help them learn much more. Reading has proven to be much more effective because it helps improve reading skills and it helps to learn many different words. Television does help your child learn as well as long as the child watches the appropriate learning shows. Just as television can have a good effect on children it can also have negative effects as well. If a child watches too much television it can affect him or a child can see something bad on television and try to copy it. Reading is better than watching television because it is helping with the child’s vocal speech and with the pronunciation of words.

Reading challenges your imagination more than does television because when you read a book without pictures it makes your imagination make up pictures for yourself. Reading is very helpful in many ways especially to use the creative part of your brain. Television does have its good side to it because you are able to see images of what is being described and it is much more exciting than reading. Children are not as interested in reading as they used to be because television has pushed them away from books. Don't let your kids get addicted to television, read to them every night when they are going to bed and this will help interest them more.
