Surveys demonstrate that people with pets are convinced their health is improved by having animals around. One of the main benefits is that their stress level is reduced, and this was stated by 76% of the animal owners that were questioned. Another 31% stated that their physical fitness was improved.
Health benefits are many when in companionship of a pet. The State University of New York in Buffalo has stated that their scientific findings include lowered blood pressure when in the company of your pet. Pets help reduce stress since it encourages owners to exercise. Walking with them soothes nerves, and offers an instant relaxation. A stressful situation has less impact for pet owners.
Pets can also warn their owners of cancer. It is determined that cancerous cells propel a distinct odor which can be located by dogs. They also help prevent heart disease since they are faithful companions, therefore can help their owners with great psychological stability. Also, they help with depression and loneliness since they help awaken an interest in life. Affection from pets takes on a great meaning when faced with adversity.
