A parent will want to start their child, or children, out early on eating healthy. Eating fruits for snacks instead of junk food will help in promoting your child to eat healthy. Young children at the age of two have a tendency not to eat. Sometimes this is because they are fed food in between meals. A parent needs to remember that their tummies do not hold as much as an adult’s. When children go to the parent saying they are hungry try, parents should try to feed them some raw vegetables, fruits or other nutritional snacks.
Another type of snack would be yogurt and a peanut butter with jelly sandwich. This helps the child get some required nutrients. Also setting an example in front of your child helps them to eat healthy. If you eat junk food in front of your child, they will follow by example. Another tip for feeding your child nutritionally would be to give them small portions at meal time. If the meals are close together, the child may not be hungry.
Do not stress over if your child is not eating because they will take growth spurts where they will eat with no problem. Include your child in the preparation of the meal. By giving them whole foods as they grow, they will not turn to junk food as they grow. Make sure to make eating as a family time at the table, this will also help the child. Also make sure they get enough fluids.
